What the kids ate: A 2-minute research project

Site:
Grounds of a local elementary school.

Date:
November 2010; a weekday afternoon; one hour after final bell.

Artifacts found:

Collected 15 artifacts in total, along one edge of the property.

Analysis:
All artifacts consisted of food packaging, all of which could be construed as snacks.

Three artifacts could be considered "healthy" choices (milk, chocolate milk, fruit juice). Twelve of the artifacts were considerably less so (soda, candy, potato chips, blah blah blah).

Artifacts lay on the grass, each within 15 yards (max.) of a garbage bin. A sign on the bin urged citizens to keep the city "clean and beautiful".

Conclusion:
:-(
